A North American Class 1 Rail Operator selects Cambium to Upgrade Legacy Network

A prominent North American rail carrier partners with Cambium Networks to update the communications infrastructure that carries mission critical switching traffic, enables streaming of IP video from rail yards for asset protection and security, and delivers connectivity to remote offices. The new network is an upgrade to this existing system, providing higher bandwidth and supporting additional converged services – and will extend the network by 10,000 miles of track.

Vital efficiency functions such as simplified sparing, addition of capacity, technical support, and ease of use were all factors in the carrier’s decision making. Cambium Networks solutions included in the initial project are PTP 820 backhaul solution with cnReach, and PTP/PMP450 deployed for railyard connectivity.

‘Rail is a key vertical for Cambium networks and this deployment is a great example of the scalability, flexibility and manageability of the portfolio. The mission critical nature of this deployment combined with the customer’s need for an end-to-end wireless solution made Cambium the ideal partner.’ – Derek Underwood, North American VP of Sales, Cambium Networks
